Murat Wahab, CEO of Hakim Saya (Global Navigation), partnered with a Brooklyn-based Malaysian Celebrity Chef, Auria Abraham and Lao Table by Osha Thai to fundraise for a local non-profit organization. The event sponsored by Alaska Airlines, Omni Hotels & Resorts, and Giorgio Armani.
It was a sold-out event, and people are still raving about the foods, electrifying performance showcasing a diversity of Malaysian cultures, such as Malay, Indian, and Chinese. The opening act was done tastefully, and it was led by non-other than restauranteur, owner of Lao Table by Osha Thai, Chef Lalitha Souksamlane acting as the Captain of Lao Table Airlines and followed by Lao Table Airlines flight attendants.
Chef Auria's prepared a wonderful 6-course dinner started with an appetizer dish, "Kerabu Sotong" (tempting fresh salad with tropical fruit and piquant aromatic squid, mango, and shallots), followed by my all-time favorites "Beef Rendang" (slow-cooked grass-fed brisket in Southeast Asian aromatics and coconut milk butterfly pea flower rice), "Salmon Spicy Yellowtail Yee Sang" (salmon sashimi, root vegetables, pomegranate), "Chickpea & Spinach Fritter" (a standard vegan offering at temple ceremonies Mango Coulis), "River Prawn Laksa" (a popular hawker offering that is quintessentially Malaysian Egg noodles, a wild coconut curry broth, river prawns, flowering chives), and last but not least a dessert that was out of this world "Cocodew" (a light dessert soup Honeydew melon, pearl tapioca, coconut milk pandan).
The night ended with a bang when someone won $1,500 raffles ticket in value from Giorgio Armani. Congratulations to the winner! Everyone had a good time, and went home with a wonderful memories, and knowing that they were part of the wonderful community who cares about our local causes. We, at Hakim Saya (Global Navigation) also want to take advantage to thank all the supporters who came as far as Los Angeles, donors, sponsors, Lao Table crews, Chef Yo who was the mastermind in putting together excellent cabaret-style performance to entertain all Lao Table by Osha Thai guests. Again, thank you from the bottom of our heart. The event would not be successful if it were not for the involvement of everyone who participates in this fundraiser event. Let's do this again!
