Hakim Saya is a San Francisco-based consulting firm founded by Murat Wahab, MBA, a seasoned hotelier, commercial banker, business advisor, and entrepreneur. He named the firm for his cherished nephew Hakim, whose own father died unexpectedly at only 42 years of age. Able to afford Hakim educational and social opportunities in Malaysia that would not otherwise have been possible, Murat’s single-minded goal was to see Hakim through college in the United States. He hoped to change the trajectory of Hakim and his family for generations to come. That would be his legacy.
Sadly, Hakim left us in 2018, just past his 16th birthday, the victim of a car accident in Murat’s native Melaka. In choosing a name for his company, Murat chose Hakim Saya, meaning “My Hakim” in Malay. In Arabic, Hakim means wise, and the memory of his astute and wise appreciation for life remains an inspiration. Hakim was bright, fun, considerate, and so optimistic for the future.
